“It was obvious to everybody else.”

The Rehearsal (Saturday September 29th, 2007, 8AM-6PM)

At 8AM on Saturday the writers presented the performers with their scripts. Each group worked separately on blocking the action, developing characters, and memorizing lines. We incorporated costumes, props, and sets. One group even wrote a song and choreographed a musical number! During this time, the writer / director worked with the performers to mold their play.

“ I can learn lines extremely fast when I have to.”
- Matt (Performer)

On Saturday afternoon all three pieces went into Tech. We took turns on the main stage where lighting, sound, and blocking were cemented. We also worked on the context of our show: How would we introduce the show to the audience? In what order would the plays go on? How would we transition between plays? When we weren't actually performing, we all pitched in as stage hands. We realized that one element we wanted to emphasize to the audience was the ensemble we had developed.

At 6PM, we began setting out chairs and snacks for our audience. We had no idea how many people would show up. Maybe no one would come! But we knew that we were going to put on quite a show... even if we were the only ones there to see it.

“Thank G-d for furniture, that's what I say.”
